About Us

Persevering - no matter what!

This means strength in times of adversity and acting with integrity. Even when things are crazy, we believe in seeing things through to the end and doing the right thing. We don’t simply give you a few tax planning tips or business advice and leave you to it. We help you build a strategy to get things done.

Not doing things the way they've always been done before

Traditional accountants spend a lot of time looking in the past. We’re looking ahead to your future. This means taking advantage of tax laws and planning for what lies ahead so there are no big surprises.

Who wants to work with a boring accountant anyway?

Who says accountants aren’t fun? Black Sheep love to have fun. It’s essential to productivity! Black Sheep work hard and have fun. Our idea of fun: going to concerts, traveling, CrossFit training, connecting with people, helping our clients build their business.

Technology, systems & awesome apps

Using the latest technologies and constantly coming up with new ideas is how we make your experience with us better. It’s all about getting the work done right, on time, and constant communication with you along the way.

People who support each other through life's highs and lows

Black Sheep clients and employees are our family, which means you’ll always have a personal connection with us. Even though we’re virtual, we have a local feel and are always a phone call or email away.

When we say it, we mean it!

These aren’t just words. We live these values every day: it’s who we are.

Your challenges, your success

Tell us what's on your mind

Being a Black Sheep means you’ll have lots of conversations with us about your business. What’s working great? What do you want to change? We’d love to hear from you.

Can you have more than one Black Sheep?

yes.

Kevin Cooper, CPA

Kevin started his career at EY in 2007, with aspirations to become a tax accountant working on Fortune 500 company accounts. He became a licensed CPA in 2009 and learned about many different areas of taxation. He left EY to work for KPMG in 2012, and then ultimately left to start Black Sheep Accountants in 2016 because he wanted to focus on helping individuals and small businesses. He was inspired to create Black Sheep Accountants as an alternative to traditional CPA firms and wanted his firm to focus on creativity, innovation, and being “real” with his clients.

Kevin is securities licensed and is currently studying to take the Certified Financial Planner™ exam. Kevin is very down-to-earth, compassionate and excels at translating the complexities of tax and finance planning into a language that most people can understand. He truly cares about the wellbeing of his clients and wants to help them meet their long-term financial goals.

Kevin lives with his husband and 3-year-old daughter in Seattle. For fun, Kevin enjoys going to concerts, playing guitar, hiking, kayaking, traveling and hanging out with his family and two dogs.
